What This Means for Grass Lake

The expansion into Grass Lake was officially celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Marie Gress, Executive Director of WAVE, and Shasta Angel, Community Relations Coordinator. The event highlighted the new routes that not only cover Grass Lake but also include nearby areas such as Chelsea, Dexter, Stockbridge, Manchester, and more.

WAVE's mission is to provide efficient and affordable transportation. Residents and visitors can now travel anywhere within Washtenaw County for as low as 50 cents to $2.50, depending on their eligibility. This pricing is especially beneficial for older adults, individuals with disabilities, youths, and those on limited incomes.

Affordable Rides for Everyone

Whether you need to commute daily or occasionally travel within Washtenaw County, WAVE offers an affordable solution. Fares start at just $1 within Western Washtenaw County with substantial discounts available:

  • Older adults, individuals with disabilities, youth, and low-income residents pay just 50 cents.

  • Broader trips outside the primary service area cost $5, or $2.50 for eligible groups.

How to Book a Ride

Booking a ride with WAVE is easy and accessible through multiple channels:

  • Phone: Call 734-475-9494, available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

  • Email: [email protected]

  • App: Download the Ride Pingo App to book and pay for rides directly from your smartphone.

This expansion was made possible thanks to the generous support from various local and state organizations, including the State of Michigan, 5 Healthy Towns Grass Lake Coalition, Pat and Phil Willis Foundation, Grass Lake Charter Township, Grass Lake Village, Waterloo Township, Chelsea State Bank, and the Jackson Community Foundation.

The WAVE bus service's growth into Grass Lake marks a pivotal step towards ensuring that transportation is no longer a barrier but a gateway to greater opportunities for all our residents.
