National Kidney Foundation of Michigan
The National Kidney Founation of Michigan is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works at the local level to prevent kidney disease by focusing on its root causes: obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Our mission is to prevent kidney disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it. We educate the public about chronic kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension and obesity. Our Diabetes Prevention Center provides Diabetes Prevention Programs throughout MI to help people prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. The NKFM directly serves more 80,000 Michiganders each year through evidence-based programs, direct patient services, and outreach efforts. The organization received a Charity Navigator 4-Star rating for the last 10 years in a row. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised flows to programs. This is an extraordinary accomplishment given that the NKFM raises a substantial amount of its annual budget through fundraising and grants.
