This year, the Grass Lake Sportsman's Club is once again hosting its cherished annual event, "Take a Kid Fishing Day," set against the serene backdrop of Grass Lake County Park. Scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 9:00 AM to Noon, this special day falls on Michigan's Free Fishing Weekend, making it the perfect opportunity for youngsters aged 6 to 16 to dive into fishing at no cost.

The Grass Lake Sportsman's Club has long been a pillar in our community, dedicated to the conservation and enjoyment of our natural resources. Their mission emphasizes not only the preservation of our environment but also the education and engagement of our community through sustainable practices and conservation education. "Take a Kid Fishing Day" is a prime example of this mission in action, inviting the next generation to learn about and engage with the outdoors in a hands-on, fun-filled setting.

Participants can expect a day packed with excitement and educational opportunities. Each child will receive a free fishing pole (while supplies last), and the event includes plenty of prizes to add to the thrill. No fishing license is required, making it an accessible way for children to get hooked on a new hobby that teaches patience, respect for nature, and the importance of conservation.

The morning will not only be about casting lines but also building lasting memories during a hot dog lunch provided to all attendees, allowing families and friends to enjoy a meal together outdoors.
